Leadership Wichita Falls

PASSIONATE LEADERS SERVING WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS

Founded in 1979, Leadership Wichita Falls (LWF) is a community orientation and leadership training program. One of over 700 leadership programs throughout the country, Leadership Wichita Falls shares the common belief that the single most important ingredient in building a successful community is an investment in leadership.

WHAT IS THE ADULT CLASS?

The Adult Leadership program runs annually from January to May, culminating in a class project designed to serve and benefit the community. Throughout the program, a cohort of 40 emerging leaders from Wichita Falls will engage in hands-on learning experiences that help them identify and refine their unique leadership styles. Participants will develop critical skills in project management, teamwork, and collaboration, equipping them to effectively lead in diverse environments. By the end of the program, they will have gained a comprehensive understanding of the community’s inner workings, from government and public service to the vital roles played by non-profit organizations, positioning them to make a meaningful impact.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Any adult ages 18+ can apply. The tuition is $695; the participant’s organization typically pays it.

Leadership Wichita Falls is especially valuable to new residents of the Wichita Falls area and professionals whose business demands have precluded extensive community exposure.

Leadership Wichita Falls recruits and prepares individuals for community leadership, providing a foundation for ongoing community involvement. Over 1,200 community members have participated in the program.

As a collaborative effort, each class is tasked with designing and implementing a project, fundraiser, or event that directly benefits a local non-profit organization. The goal is to create a meaningful initiative that not only raises awareness but also generates tangible support for the organization’s mission. Through creative planning and teamwork, students will have the opportunity to engage with the community, develop leadership skills, and make a lasting, positive impact on the chosen cause.

WHAT IS THE YOUTH PROGRAM?

Since 1993, the youth of our community have enthusiastically embraced a journey that empowers each of them to realize the need for positive change and growth within our community as well as promotes their own personal growth.

Each spring, 30 students are chosen from Memorial and Legacy High School to make up the Youth Leadership class.

The class is introduced to several leadership-building programs from February through April. The Youth Leadership program is offered at no cost to the students that are selected to participate. One hundred percent of the program is underwritten through generous donations by local businesses and organizations.

If you or a student that you know would be interested in participating, please contact the College & Career Counselor at any of the three high schools. Students must be in 10th or 11th grade and be in good standing with their school. Contact us for more information.
